Industrial Wastewater Testing for NPDES Permit Compliant

Trinity Analytical Laboratories, Inc. performs water analysis to determine compliance with Federal regulatory programs and their corresponding State programs. These programs are the Clean Water Act (CWA), which employs methods that are specific for pre and post treatment Wastewaters and surface waters, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), which employs methods that are specific to groundwater.

Since its implementation, the Clean Water Act and the subsequent creation of the USEPA in the early 1970s, industrial, institutional and commercial entities have been required to continually improve the quality of their process wastewater effluent discharges.

National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit-required testing for wastewater treatment plants is a specialty at Trinity Analytical Laboratories, Inc.. We cater to the certified operator’s needs with fast, convenient and specialized testing. The determination of your facility's wastewater quality is specified in environmental permits (either yours or your municipality's wastewater treatment plant) consists of series of laboratory tests focused on four major categories:

  • Organics - Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and Oil and Grease (O&G). These methods analyze for the concentration of carbon-based compounds in the water.
  • Solids - Total Solids (TS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total Volatile Solids (TVS), and Total Fixed Solids (TFS).
  • Nutrients - nitrogen and phosphorus compounds that can contribute to the acceleration of eutrophication, and Physical Properties and Other Impact Parameters - temperature, color, pH, turbidity, odor. Analytical tests designed to measure water properties that directly impact wastewater treatability.

Storm water runoff is another category of wastewater regulated under the CWA. Storm water permits are issued to construction activities, industrial facilities, and municipal separate storm seer systems. Trinity can provide automatic sampling and event sampling to support your permit compliance.

Ground-water monitoring must be performed at RCRA-regulated waste management units and facilities where hazardous waste is stored or disposed of in or on the land. Such units include interim status and permitted surface impoundments, landfills, tanks and land treatment units according to 40 CFR 264.90. Operating and post-closure landfills also require groundwater monitoring.

Trinity Analytical Laboratories, Inc. provides full-service environmental analytical testing for a growing list of municipal and industrial clients, engineering consultants and governmental agencies. For more information please Contact Us.
